Acai Recipes

If you have ever been to Brazil or any area in the region of the Amazon Rainforests, then you will probably have seen an interesting dish that looks like pulp in a bowl. The Brazilians use this dish, or a variety of it, in almost every single meal. The dish is made of acai berry, which is a berry that is only native to that region of the world. However, acai berry is not consumed just because it tastes good (although it does), but also because it has tremendous health benefits for those that make it part of their diet. As a result, many people have expressed a desire to try acai, but most don’t know how to prepare it or implement it into their diet. To help you out, we’ve identified a few acai recipes that can be easily prepared so that you can start enjoying the benefits of this amazing fruit.

Before you start, it is important to note that a majority of the fruit’s size is taken up by the seed and it is only the pulp that is good for eating. So make sure that you remove the acai seed before trying to prepare it. You wouldn’t want to ruin a dish by chomping down on a hard berry seed would you?

One of the most popular ways to consume acai is as a juice smoothie, so the first recipe will be a wonderful tasting and refreshing smoothie. All you need is:

• 2 100g packs of acai powder or puree
• 2 Tb honey
• 1 frozen banana
• ¾ cup of Apple Juice

You simply add these ingredients to a blender and mix until ready.

Another great recipe is an acai granola mix, which is also easy to prepare and take on the go for hiking, long walks or runs, or simply lounging around the house. You simply take some standard plain granola, mix in a ½ cup or full cup of acai Berries, ¼ cup of raisins, ¼ cup of banana chips or similar dried fruit, and you are done! Package it up and start munching.

Lastly, you can make a smoothie using rice and some other ingredients, which is also a great way for children to get a good mix of carbohydrates and vitamins.

• ½ cup of rice
• ½ cup of banana or strawberry slices
• 1 100g pack of acai powder or puree
• 1 cup of acai juice

Simply throw them all in the blender together and mix until completely smooth. There are so many ways to enjoy acai that you could spend all day finding new ways to prepare it, but the easiest by far are snack mixes or smoothies. You can also mix it in with other fruits or fruit juices to form cocktails or fruit mixes. The trick is to keep trying new things until you find some recipes that you can rely on consistently. Once you’ve done that, then you’ve found a great way to add extra nutrition to your diet without a lot of extra work. Enjoy!
